Dear children of the beat,

Recently Mango has playing hostess to some of more renowned and and yet cool DJ’s around the ol’ Melbourne town. From the grumpy yet salubrius electronix of ‘Not Happy Jan,’ to the Liverpudlean with the mod-soul mostest Vince Peach, to the lost Italo-disco classics of ‘Dr. Hysteric’, to chicago, disco, and just proper house stylings of ‘Mr Pickles’, to the regular craziness from our regular man not quite in control of the controls ‘D’Operator’ plus many more. There are regular guests especially on our flagship Friday nights but also of Saturdays, Sundays, Thursdays.

Our music policy is to keep an eye to the underground, keep it easy to listen to, keep it off the mainstream radio, and keep it on VINYL! That’s right kids pure analogue sound. Music that you can dance to, or lounge to that ‘fully’ covers all audible frequencies – no gaps! You see, we love music at Mango; so we strive to present something fresh night after night (as we have now for some ten years) and not just play the same old Cafe Del Mar CD or shitty pop musak over and over again, like so many bars and cafes do.

Over coming months expect to see more guest DJ’s side by side with our stalwarts like D’Operator and Mr.Pickles. So as the fruit comes into season in our famous dacquiri’s in the months ahead, so can you as you enjoy refreshing tunes our DJ’s showcase weekly; in the little bar in the backstreets of Moonee Ponds.

Peace,

D

We here at Mango have been busy little bees getting the bar all beautiful and new for you all. And last Friday it finally all come together. It started off funnily just like any other Mango Friday night, our gorgeous little regulars trickling in from about 4ish but quickly turned to one of the biggest nights in Mango history. Vince Peach hit the decks and provided us with a soundtrack for the sunset, despite the early hour his smooth tunes had people tapping their feet and we even caught sight of some people busting moves! As the moon rose more people arrived and TuBBs replaced Vince Peach. At one point Mango almost resembled a carnival with people dancing where ever they could find space. Martini’s were definitely the drink of the night (well we do make amazing Martini’s) and no sooner would we make a round, more would be ordered. The bar continued to run hot as Danny “D’Operator” Berger started his set, the dancing continued and showed no signs signs of slowing. In fact when the magic hour arrived (1am) there were more then a few sad faces. All in all a night that will be remembered (by the staff anyway)!

We had an exciting moment today, we actually got booze in the bar!!! While this might seem both obvious and a little benign to you all, to us it was a monumental step that signaled that all was coming together and the hard work was going to pay off. After almost 4 months of seeing our beloved bar go through a ground up transformation we were sadly beginning to get used to it. But with the alcohol finally being put away in its new little spot we were reminded that in 8 more sleeps we throw open our doors and we get to see you again. The word of the opening is slowly spreading around town, we want to see everyone so get calling/messaging/Facebooking/Tweeting or whatever it is you cool kids are doing these days and invite away, all Mangoites and friends of Mangoites welcome.

For those of you who haven’t jump on our website to get in with all the cool Mango kids.

So how it is all coming along you ask? Well fabulously well and exciting thank you for asking! We have laid a new slab, put new walls up and are planning for some really exciting surprise changes. Just to put your minds at ease we are still going to be the same Mango you know and love, just a really cool improved version. We will still be the best place to have after work drinks, your function or first date (we LOVE when you have first dates at Mango, for the record you are not fooling us and we can spot you a mile away but we will never let on…).

So what’s in store for the big reveal? Well a huge party for starters! There will be some bits and pieces moved around, some cool new features, perhaps some new furniture, who knows how far it will go.

FYI We are missing you all desperately and can’t wait till we can see you all again, it just seems like far too long. Remember we are doing this for our future; keeping you happy is our priority!

Love M xx

Hello esteemed Mango readers, welcome to Mango Lounge Bar’s first ever blog post! For those of you who are new to Mango let me give you a little background of who we are and what we do.

Mango Lounge Bar is a boutique cocktail bar in Moonee Ponds, a short drive or cab ride from the Melbourne CBD. Making sure that our customers enjoy their Mango experience is the number one priority for us. We have a cocktail list that is regularly updated, an enviable beer selection that includes a mixture of Australian and International brews and a smooth wine list. We love creating drinks especially for our customers so we will always strive to meet your every whim (unless of course you are mixing something gross like Baileys and Solo with a dash of Grenadine, in that case we will just smile and ask a few dozen times if that is really what you want).

Music is an integral part of Mango life; we like things just a little different and don’t stray away from mixing things up. Our resident DJ Daniel “D’Operator” Berger is our favourite way to finish off the working week. His music tastes range from the deepest darkest underground disco through to chilled house tunes; you are always pleasantly surprised on Fridays. We also have regular Thursday Jazz nights where we have a live band that creates a suave bar vibe. Mango loves to keep things fresh and shake things up by having parties, guest DJs and our famous ‘Mix-Up’ nights were we can often have 4+ DJs rotating throughout the night.

So that is a small overview of Mango Lounge Bar, in upcoming blogs we will keep you up to date with what is coming up and what has gone down in the world of Mango.

As a small side note Mango is currently experiencing a makeover but we will be up and running very soon so stay tuned for all the surgery details…

Love M xx
