A world of new spirits part 2

Posted by Dan Semkiw on 19th Mar 2015

You could say that craft beer has been dominating change in the Australian liquor industry but every now and again an Australian spirit comes into a class of its own. Our spirit portfolio at Mango Lounge Bar evolves accordingly and while we last spoke about Starward whiskey, this month we introduce an Australian gin to our range.

The West Winds. There are two gins, “The Sabre” and “The Cutlass”, distilled with the purest of water in Margaret River using distinctly Australian botanicals together with a combination of more traditional ingredients. With a strong undercurrent of citrus, “The Sabre”, stocked at Mango, includes twelve spices and botanicals including juniper, lemon myrtle, lime peel and wattle seed. This contemporary Australian gin is a perfect choice in a Negroni and equally refreshing with soda or tonic. The West Winds journey began in a bar in Balaclava, Melbourne in 2010 and these gins have now made it to some of the best bars in the world.

Also new at Mango is St Germain liqueur. Made from handpicked elderflowers blossoms in France, this unique aromatic liqueur, with a hint of pear and lychee, is a perfect cocktail ingredient.
